“It is certainly encouraging to see the incoming administration begin to clean up Trump’s climate mess by immediately rejoining the Paris Agreement. But for the Biden Administration to truly account for the U.S.’s outsized role in causing the global climate crisis, there must also be federal action to staunch the flow of hundreds of billions of dollars a year into the global fossil fuel industry from U.S. financial institutions. Wall Street’s climate footprint can no longer be ignored by U.S. policymakers.”
