Statement on Trump Inauguration Day Executive Orders

Following the issuance of sweeping executive orders on Monday, January 20, 2025, Rainforest Action Network Executive Director Ginger Cassady issued the following statement:

There is one dominant theme throughout all the Trump administration’s disastrously short-sighted executive orders related to energy and the environment — maximizing corporate profits no matter the cost to our climate and our communities. From allowing unfettered oil and gas expansion in Alaska’s unique ecosystem to withdrawing from the Paris Agreement, these executive orders fly in the face of science and reality. And communities, especially vulnerable Black, Indigenous, brown and low-income communities, in the United States and across the globe will pay the price.

We cannot afford to ignore the reality of record heat waves, raging wildfires, increasingly extreme storms, and the climate displacement of millions. We have to move forward. We need a just transition to a clean energy future. Yet this administration is determined to chain our future to a dirty fossil fuel economy of the past.
