One of my goals in life is to get mountaintop removal into the national consciousness via organizing, actions, media events, rallies and even pop culture. Last night, we got a LOT closer to that goal when Stephen Colbert hosted Dr. Margaret Palmer, author of the Science article that called for a ban on mountaintop removal due to public health and environmental impacts.
In the segment Colbert takes swipes at the EPA for releasing new permits last week, and hits a number of important talking points on one of the most watched shows on TV and the internet. It’s an important step to ending this terrible process.
