REVEL 2012 Wrap Up
This year’s REVEL was a gorgeous affair. And this year we had so much to celebrate together.
Before dinner, revelers took a jaunt through Cal Academy of Sciences' lush four-story rainforest alive with Golden Helicon butterflies, Turquoise Tanagers, Rocket Frogs, and Wolf Snakes.
Amidst the elegant beauty of the African Hall and a fantastic three-course dinner, executive director Rebecca Tarbotton spoke eloquently about the crucial work that RAN is doing around the world for forests, human rights, and the climate and celebrated RAN’s recent victory with Disney.
Dr. Bayu Wirayudha, founder and director of the Friends of the National Park Foundation, was honored with the World Rainforest Award as the California Academy of Sciences glittered with stingray pools, elaborate costumes and California's most cutting-edge minds getting in some serious bonding time.
The incredible co-founder and Chairman of the Board at 350.org, Bill McKibben, reminded the Rainforest Action Network about the evolution of climate change and the impact of our important work.
And then the charming Terrence Meck took the stage to REVEL With A Cause, promoting priceless experiences including a dinner date with former CIA agent Valerie Plame and Ambassador Joe Wilson and a week’s stay at a Balinese Water Palace – so amazing it’s almost not real!
Meanwhile, the bar flowed with all kinds of amazing cocktails while the dance party revved up with beats by DJL.
One of the best things about this Network, no matter what the age, is that these people know how to get down. So when the dinner guests and party guests merged on the dancefloor, REVEL got raucous. Napata & The Kisses laid down some incredible music that kept the party going all the way until midnight.
