Rainforest Action Network Condemns RBC Bank Fire

SAN FRANCISCO—In response to yesterday’s fire at RBC’s Ottawa bank branch Rebecca Tarbotton, Acting Director of the Rainforest Action Network, issued the following statement:

“We are shocked by the news of yesterday’s arson attack on RBC, we condemn this as an act of violence and send our thoughts out to the RBC employees in Ottawa.

“Since our founding, Rainforest Action Network (RAN) has been committed to nonviolence in our campaigning and does not support or condone violence in any form. It is our belief and experience that social movements have been more powerful and effective when they have challenged injustice through nonviolent means.”
