From Occupy groups to mommy bloggers, a broad spectrum of people responded to Occupy our Food Supply’s call to resist corporate consolidation of our food systems and create socially and environmentally just local solutions. The massive participation shows that this is an idea whose time has come: We must get big food giants like Cargill and Monsanto out of our food system
In just over a week’s time, thousands of people will descend on our food system by participating in a Global Day of Action to Occupy our Food Supply. Prominent thought leaders, authors, farmers and activists like Vandana Shiva, Michael Pollan, Annie & Willie Nelson, Woody Harrelson, Raj Patel, Gary Paul Nabhan, Anna Lappé, Marion Nestle, Food Inc.’s Robert Kenner and Michael Ableman are adding their voices in support of a wide-ranging series of actions across the US and the globe.
We invite you to join us in standing up to Cargill, a global agribusiness giant touching every aspect of our food from farm to fork. United, our food movements can reach the scale required to challenge Cargill’s corporate food regime that has prioritized profit over health and sustainability for decades.
